Our 'Gurus' are committed to customising your experience as much as possible before your time with them according to your wishes so that you get the most out of your visit. Differing from a tour guide where everyone is treated the same, we actually offer you the opportunity to enjoy the wisdom and guidance of a true local Guru!

We have a simple offer that allows you to easily book a 100% private session with a local Guru in a public place while enjoying personalised guidance to fully unlock your trip's potential. In order to guarantee availability for the period of your choice we select the Guru for you that best fits your needs and desires. Our Gurus provide advice and recommendations at a flat rate per hour and the opportunity to completely tailor the information just for you.

What is Arrival Guru?

Arrival Guru is a simple marketplace platform which aims to connect travellers and local people in order to offer a 100% personalized encounter to those who are thirsty for local insider information.

Can I get refunded if I cancel my order?

Sure thing, cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance of a booked session receive a full refund. Any cancellations made within 48 hours of the service are not refundable. You can, however, request a change of day and time within 24hrs.

Organising the visit with your local Guru?

Once your order has been placed and confirmed by email our Head Guru will assign you the Guru that best suits your needs. We will send you access to a private LiveChat between you and your Guru so that you can discuss your visit in more detail and allow the Guru to best prepare for your arrival. It's here that you will organise your meeting place and exchange contact details if necessary. Our Gurus will also be ready to help with any questions or requests you have.

Can I also become an Arrival Guru?

Yes you can! Apply as per our recruitment page and our team will get back to you for an interview. Currently we are only taking Gurus in New Zealand, but this will change shortly.

Who are our Gurus and how are they chosen?

All our Gurus are local people who have a great proven knowledge of the country in which they live and have a passion for sharing their experiences and love of their country/city with travellers from all over the world. The Head Guru selects the local Gurus with an internal procedure based on the following criteria: knowledge of the local language, length of experience in the area in which they offer their services, a desire to share, enthusiasm, energy, and motivation.

How can I pay to book my visit?

Payments must be made online by credit or debit card at the time of booking. Payments are processed through our secure provider DPS. Both VISA and Mastercard are accepted.

What does an Arrival Guru session include?

All sessions with your local Guru are an in-person, one on one experience. You will receive a personalised info pack and access to great deals in that city/country. If you would prefer, our Gurus can also conduct the one hour session online, using a common platform such as Zoom or Skype. We understand that you might want some of the fantastic formation we have to share prior to even arriving at your destination, or perhaps you may just want to have the meeting in the comfort of your room. We are happy to do what works best for you.
